  1. More importantly, 47% disagreed with that statement. 863 is hardly a large enough sample to draw such a sweeping statement. Were the remaining 24% undecided?
  2. This type of grandstanding is a waste of taxpayer money. No state can null and void a federal law. This is stupidity at its highest. The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) is law. I wish these jokers would just get over it and move on. There are a lot more productive things that need to be done.
  3. I'm not sure if every disease is curable, but most are. I don't think the government is behind it though. I agree with Neo (shock!) that it's the big pharmaceutical companies and even healthcare businesses like hospitals are behind it. I recently watched a couple of great documentaries about how many of our worse diseases can be cured and even reversed with the right diet. A couple of the doctors who had great results treating patients who were in the worse shape (nearly dying) were marginalized at their respective hospital and clinic. There's big money in healthcare.
  4. Or evil dictators-in-waiting, especially Glenn Beck. I stumbled upon a video of Beck talking about his "freedom city". He essentially replaced the "evil" government with himself. I do think that we do have to watch out for government interferring in our personal lives, of overstepping boundaries. But it's another thing to replace government with something or someone far worse.
  5. Lately, I have been hearing some really great things about Al Jazeera English. I will have to check them out. I can't speak or NickJ, but I share the same opinion. It's not born out of some "all consuming leftist media". It's from my personal observations. I do think the crazies are the loudest and get more attention. That's a shame. I do know plenty of fiscally conservatives who are pretty decent.
  6. I get my news from a variety of places. At one time, I used to follow CNN religiously. Now, it's just utter garbage. I really can't take Fox News. I watch clips on YouTube for the entertainment and piss off factor. I'm a big fan of Democracy Now with Amy Goodman and Project Censored which tracks the most uncovered important news issues of the year.
  7. Usually money goes hand in hand with power and influence, but I guess not always. Nope, we haven't heard the last from Cyprus. This is just crazy. I still don't think it will happen in the US, at least not now. Yes, the hackers have been stealing money for a long time. The banks that utilizes the *cloud* are especially vulnerable.
  8. I didn't drink that much, but I went through some serious withdrawal symptoms when I stopped drinking Coke. I had headaches. I would even hear the fizzling of Coke. It was bad! After three days, I was okay, but it scared me. It blows my mind that it's legally sold as a regular drink.
  9. This was probably added to the state's Constitution to prevent any type of corruption. The electric car charge thing is an unforeseen circumstance.
  10. This happened to a Brazilian friend of mine. She was a singer with a traveling Brazilian tour group. She had most of her money in a bank of Brazil. Overnight she went from wealthy to dead broke. Honestly, I don't know what I would do, but I wouldn't take it lying down so to speak. I really don't understand why the wealthy in Brazil didn't overthrow the government.
  11. I do agree with this. This is definitely true. I would say that these are strange times, but some Americans have always been afraid of other Americans.
  12. No, I don't trust the government. Not really. There is too much big money influence in politics. Most politicians spend half their time trying to get re-elected. Mulitnational corporations have too much influence. I don't agree that both parties are really the same (in the US). I love it if we could get an influential third party involved, but not the Libertarians.
  13. Good grief! I have also read that many bodies do need to be embalmed because of the crap we're eating. Last year, I eliminated all refined food from my diet. It's one of the best things I've done for my health.
  14. It's perfectly understandable that Las Vegas would ban Google glasses. I expect Atlantic City and Indian casinos would ban them too. I have to area with Victor, I wouldn't talk to anyone wearing them too. It's just creepy.
  15. No, I don't think the government was behind the bombing. I do think that some members in the government will take advantage of certain situations to push their own agenda. But I still don't think that the government was behind it.
  16. No, I don't think we need a catastrophe. It's good that as a people we can pull together during times of crisis. If the human is to survive we need to learn to pull together when there's isn't a crisis.
  17. My mom used to leave me and my sibling home a lot and I live in Los Angeles. It happens. This is a small town with a population of less than 5000 people. These folks probably didn't even lock their doors.
  18. This is just horrible. The stabbing happened over the weekend. It's a very small town and I can imagine that the town is just shaken. As of yet, the brother isn't a suspect. It would break my heart if he did this to his sister.
  19. Yes, I do believe in primitive man. Beyond fossil evidence, there has many artifacts found of the tools the primitive man used. I don't watch the History Channel, but I should start watching it.
  20. I heard about this. It just breaks my heart. I hope that everyone responsible for this murder is held accountable. There's an article on the front page of the New York Times about how the older brother had his boxing dreamed squashed because he wasn't an American citizen. He tried to obtain it and was denied. I didn't read the entire article. The younger brother who had American citizenship was lead astray by the bitter resentment. It's being to look like religion was just a cover for the real reason for the bombing.
  21. It's pretty to check if someone uses Facebook. No sense in lying. I don't post my business on Facebook. I use Facebook to keep in touch with family and friends especially their birthdays. I don't post updates. I don't post any personal stuff. They could look at my Facebook and not learn anything personal about me. That being said, I would refuse to work for any company that demanded my Facebook or any social media password. Being an employee doesn't make you a slave. Jeez.
  22. Yes, CISPA is dead for now. It will show up with another name and acronym later. These folks will not give up! My mom always told me when I was a kid that I should never write anything down that I might want to deny later. It seemed strange at the time, but it was great advice. I consider email to be a postcard. Anyone can read a postcard. There's no privacy. I don't think it's right for the UK government to be able to read you email, but it can be intercepted by anyone who knows how.
  23. I have no problem with this executive order either. It's regarding the importation of guns and gun parts. If Congress had been willing to work with the President and follow the will of the majority of American people, he wouldn't have had to do this. They won't work with him, so he works around them. I'm not saying that I trust President Obama implicitly. There are supposed to be checks and balances in our political system. It's dysfunctional right now. The crazy Republicans in the White House are the really fascists driven by greed and getting re-elected.
  24. Stupidity isn't a crime...unfortunately. Or locking someone up to prevent procreation. Fine and some community service. No, I don't think he should face significant jail time, but a lot of murders occur because the police aren't able to do anything because of threat. They need to wait until something *physical* occurs, but by that time it's often too late.
