The waters of the Rio Grande are rising. I have only been in this area a short time, but I have definitely noticed this. This is serious. Aquifers long dry are being replenished from underneath and water tables are rising. Arroyos are flooding, which have not tasted a drop of water in many, many years. Tall trees almost dead for lack of moisture are again receiving water to their roots. Water-loving birds are appearing in desert areas long dry in eager anticipation of rain. Levels of greenery not seen for a century are returning to lands that went dry in the Dust Bowl era of the 1930s. This is climate change. Hundred-year floods are coming. It is not clear to me that this has to do with a global increase in temperature, but there is definitely a secular increase is precipitation within the Gulf drainage basin. I predict that this will greatly complicate and drive up the expense of Trump's proposed wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.
