Muslims do not worship the Kaaba nor do they worship the black stone set within the walls of the Kaaba. Muslims worship only God (Allah) alone. No partners, no children, no parents, no symbolic representations, etc... just God.

The Kaaba and the black stone have great significance to Muslims but are not worshipped. the black stone is believed to have been sent down from heaven to mark the spot where God wanted Adam to establish an altar for worship. When it first came down it was supposedly a brilliant white but over the centuries the stone turned black from absorbing the sins of the people. The stone remained in that spot and eventually Ibraheem (Abraham) left his wife Hagar and his son Ismail (Ishmael) in the desert they lived in the same area that this stone was originally sent. Ibraheem didn't just abandon his son there and never return he came and visited from time to time and on

one such occasion Allah revealed to him the location of the stone and Ibraheem and Ismail together built the first Kaaba in that spot and set the black stone into the wall. Eventually over time the people in the area began to worship other than Allah and added idols to the Kaaba. Before Muhammad (SAW) became the Prophet the Kaaba had suffered a fire which had damaged but not completely destroyed it. The Meccans

renovated the building and cleaned it up, placing the black stone back into the wall. It was damaged twice once in 683 and again in 952. The damaged pieces are joined together by silver ligaments and a silver frame covers them holding them in plae in the wall. Touching, kissing, or at least reaching towards it is part of the Hajj ritual. So while it is important historically for Muslims and is one of the many parts to the Hajj ritual it has no worship. In fact when it was removed from the Kaaba for a time pilgrims simply continued on with their worship and pretended it was still there or touched/kissed/reached for the place it once was.

When Jesus rode into Jerusalem upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass, as foretold by the Prophet Zechariah, and all the people cried, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" -- meaning that Jesus was a great War Hero, because they called Him the Son of David, who was known as a great warrior and a man after God's own heart, because he repented for committing adultery with Bathsheba and murdering her husband Uriah, after the Prophet Nathan rebuked him.

Some of the lawyers asked Jesus why He did not command the people to be quiet, but He explained that if these people should remain quiet, then even the stones would cry out, "Hosanna to the Son of David!"

Among the achievements of modern science is the “conquest” of space which has resulted in mans journey to the moon. The prediction of this event surely springs to mind when we read the chapter ar-Rahmaan in the Qur’an:
“O assembly of Jinns and men, if you can penetrate the regions of the heavens and the earth, then penetrate them! You will not penetrate them except with authority.”
Qur’an,55:33
Authority to travel in space can only come from the Creator of the laws which govern movement and space. The whole of this Qur’anic chapter invites humankind to recognize God’s beneficence.

At this point, we must ask ourselves the following question: How could an uneducated man in the middle of the desert accurately tackle so many and such varied subjects at a time when mythology and superstition reigned supreme? How could he so skillfully avoid every belief that was proven to be totally inaccurate many centuries later?

Son of God, son of David, or son of Man?  Jesus is identified as “son of David” fourteen times in the New Testament, starting with the very first verse (Matthew 1:1).  The Gospel of Luke documents forty-one generations between Jesus and David, while Matthew lists twenty-six.  Jesus, a distant descendant, can only wear the “son of David” title metaphorically.  But how then should we understand the title, “son of God?”

 

The “Trilemma,” a common proposal of Christian missionaries, states that “Jesus was either a lunatic, a liar, or the Son of God, as he claimed to be.”  For the sake of argument, let’s agree that Jesus was neither a lunatic nor a liar.  Let’s also agree he was precisely what he claimed to be.  But what, exactly, was that?  Jesus called himself “Son of Man” frequently, consistently, perhaps even emphatically, but where did he call himself “Son of God?”

 

Let’s back up.  What does “Son of God” mean in the first place?  No legitimate Christian sect suggests that God took a wife and had a child, and most certainly none conceive that God fathered a child through a human mother outside of marriage.  Furthermore, to suggest that God physically mated with an element of His creation is so far beyond the limits of religious tolerance as to plummet down the sheer cliff of blasphemy, chasing the mythology of the Greeks.

 

With no rational explanation available within the tenets of Christian doctrine, the only avenue for closure is to claim yet one more doctrinal mystery.  Here is where the Muslim recalls the question posed in the Quran:

 

“…How can He have a son when He has no consort?...” (Quran 6:101)

 

…while others shout, “But God can do anything!”  The Islamic position, however, is that God doesn’t do inappropriate things, only Godly things.  In the Islamic viewpoint, God’s character is integral with His being and consistent with His majesty.

 

So again, what does “Son of God” mean?  And if Jesus Christ has exclusive rights to the term, why does the Bible record, “...for I (God) am a father to Israel, and Ephraim (i.e. Israel) is my firstborn” (Jeremiah 31:9) and, “...Israel is My son, even my firstborn” (Exodus 4:22)?  Taken in the context of Romans 8:14, which reads, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God,” many scholars conclude that “Son of God” is metaphorical and, as with christos, doesn’t imply exclusivity.  After all, The Oxford Dictionary of the Jewish Religion confirms that in Jewish idiom “Son of God” is clearly metaphorical.  To quote, “Son of God, term occasionally found in Jewish literature, biblical and post-biblical, but nowhere implying physical descent from the Godhead.”[1]  Hasting’s Bible Dictionary comments:

 

In Semitic usage “sonship” is a conception somewhat loosely employed to denote moral rather than physical or metaphysical relationship.  Thus “sons of Belial” (Jg 19:22 etc.) are wicked men, not descendants of Belial; and in the NT the “children of the bridechamber” are wedding guests.  So a “son of God” is a man, or even a people, who reflect the character of God.  There is little evidence that the title was used in Jewish circles of the Messiah, and a sonship which implied more than a moral relationship would be contrary to Jewish monotheism.[2]

 

And in any case, the list of candidates for “son of God” begins with Adam, as per Luke 3:38: “...Adam, which was the son of God.”

 

Those who rebut by quoting Matthew 3:17 (“And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, ‘This is My beloved son, in whom I am well pleased’”) have overlooked the point that the Bible describes many people, Israel and Adam included, as “sons of God.”  Both II Samuel 7:13-14 and I Chronicles 22:10 read, “He (Solomon) shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.  I will be his Father, and he shall be My son.”

 

Entire nations are referred to as sons, or children of God.  Examples include:

 

Genesis 6:2, “That the sons of God saw the daughters of men…”

 

Genesis 6:4, “There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men…”

 

Deuteronomy 14:1, “Ye are the children of the Lord your God.”

 

Job 1:6, “Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD…”

 

Job 2:1, “Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD…”

 

Job 38:7, “When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?”

 

Philippians 2:15, “that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation…”

 

1 John 3:1-2, “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! … Beloved, now we are children of God…”

 

In Matthew 5:9 Jesus says, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”  Later in Matthew 5:45, Jesus prescribed to his followers the attainment of noble attributes, “that you may be sons of your Father in heaven.”  Not exclusively his Father, but their Father

the water cycle in nature. This is a topic which is well known today. Consequently, the verses in the Qur’an that refer to the water cycle seem to express ideas that are now totally self-evident. But if we consider the ideas prevalent at that time, they appear to be based more on myth and philosophical speculation than on observed fact, even though useful practical knowledge on soil irrigation was current at that period.

Let us examine, for example, the following verse in chapter az-Zumar:
“Have you not seen that Allah sent rain down from the sky and caused it to penetrate the ground and come forth as springs, then He caused crops of different colors to grow…” Qur’an,39:21

Such notions seem quite natural to us today, but we should not forget that, not so long ago, they were not prevalent. It was not until the sixteenth century, with Bernard Palissy, that we gained the first coherent description of the water cycle. Prior to this, people believed that the waters of the oceans, under the effect of winds, were thrust towards the interior of the continents.

They then returned to the oceans via the great abyss, which, since Plato’s time was called the Tartarus .In the seventeenth century, great thinkers such as Descartes still believed in this myth. Even in the nineteenth century there were still those who believed in Aristotle’s theory that water was condensed in cool mountain caverns and formed underground lakes that fed

springs. Today, we know that it is the infiltration of rain water into the ground that is responsible for this. If one compares the facts of modern hydrology with the data found in numerous verses of the Qur’an on this subject, one cannot fail to notice the remarkable degree of agreement between the two.

Today we know that fruit comes from plants that have sexual characteristics even when they come from unfertilized flowers, like bananas. In the chapter ar-Ra‘d we read the following:
“… and of all fruits (God) placed (on the earth) two pairs.” Qur’an, 13:3



In the field of physiology, there is one verse which appears extremely significant to me. One thousand years before the discovery of the blood circulatory system, and roughly thirteen centuries before it was determined that the internal organs were nourished by the process of digestive , a verse in the Qur’an described the source of the constituents of milk, in conformity with scientific facts.

To understand this verse, it must first be known that chemical reactions occur between food and enzymes in the mouth, the stomach and the intestines releasing nutrients in molecular form which are then absorbed into the circulatory system through countless microscopic projections of the intestinal wall called villi. Blood in the circulatory system then transports the nutrients to all the organs of the body, among which are the milk-producing mammary glands.


This biological process must be basically understood, if we are to understand a verse in the Qur’an which has for many centuries given rise to commentaries that were totally incomprehensible.

Today it is not difficult to see why! This verse is taken from the chapter an-Nahl:
“Verily, in cattle there is a lesson for yon. I give you drink from their insides, coming from a conjunction between the digested contents ( of the intestines ) and the blood, milk pure and pleasant for those who drink it.” Qur’an, 16:66
The constituents of milk are secreted by the mammary glands which are nourished by the product of food digestion brought to them by the bloodstream.

The initial event which sets the whole process in motion is the conjunction of the contents of the intestine and blood at the level of the intestinal wall itself.
This very precise concept is the result of the discoveries made in the chemistry and physiology of the digestive system over one thousand years after the time of Prophet Muhammad (S).
