YOU SHOULD NOT BE ON THE INTERNET WITHOUT ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE.

Antivirus software is used to detect, prevent and remove viruses and spyware, stop hacking and phishing attacks and protect consumers from identity theft.

This software is essential to prevent loss of data and personal information and to keep computers and mobile devices running effectively.

Most antivirus software now runs on PC, Mac and Android and iOS mobile devices and should include a firewall to prevent access to computers and networks.

Parental monitoring options keep minors protected by limiting access to selected websites.

Antivirus is a good first step, but it misses so much malware.  Also today I think a VPN is more important,  you might get a virus, but you definitely will be spied upon by your own government.

Everything on the web is sifted by key words at NSA. If you don't want a large personal dossier in the files of the Intelligence Community watch what you post.

Anti-Virus Software

  1. Dump the MSFT Windows.
  2. Forget the AAPL macOS.
  3. Consider some sensible options.

For the most part you don't even need Anti-Virus, and it doesn't help anyways.  When you buy Anti-Virus, you are just paying money to a protection racket that offers a ready-made "solution" for all the worms, viruses, trojans, malware, adware, spyware, and pop-ups they are constantly hyping up and distributing out their backdoor.

People are not that stupid.  They are just too lazy to think properly, and their intelligence sinks from its normal position on top of their shoulders to the level of their genital organs when they sit in front of a computer.

I agree.

Anti-Virus software is the basic first step.

Some versions are more secure than others.

"you definitely will be spied upon by your own government"

I think modern society is approaching the point where everybody is under surveillance.

The watchers are probably being watched.

They probably use the same methods as me.

But they probably have much faster computers, and employ many people, in shifts round the clock.

9/11 showed that they are clever as they think they are.

Perhaps from now on they should spy on Israel and not waste their resources.

"People are not that stupid"

The art of government is the ability to fool the people.

Just (1) avoiding seedy sites and (2) using AdBlock Plus or other ad-blocker also offers huge protection against viruses.

I agree.

This thread was intended for people with limited knowledge of the internet.

Advanced users often have extra layers of protection.
For example, their choice of browser.
