Gays and lesbians earn more money than straight people?

>>> Abstract

>>> Using 2013–2015 National Health Interview Survey data, we reproduce a well-documented finding that self-identified lesbians earn significantly more than comparable heterosexual women. These data also show—for the first time in the literature—that self-identified gay men also earn significantly more than comparable heterosexual men, a difference on the order of 10% of annual earnings. We discuss several possible explanations for the new finding of a gay male earnings premium and suggest that reduced discrimination and changing patterns of household specialization are unlikely to be the primary mechanisms.

The old "pink wallet" myth. Really. The "dykes" and "faggots" earn more than straight people? Yeah, you'd better believe someone is going after their money, and they are not exactly getting top-notch service at the local "independent" coffee shop, either.

"Self-identified?" That should raise a red flag right there. I think we've got some over-educated faggoty-ass pick-pocketing "researchers" publishing garbage on that queer German doi system. You've got to understand that by these researchers' definition, straight men pay money for sex, and straight women offer sex for money.  Any steady relationship, even with a member of the opposite sex, is considered "queer." All sorts of deviancy and BDSM shite is considered "straight," but certainly not a "nuclear" family with father and mother and children.

Didn't we have this topic before?

The "pink pound / dollar " is true.  But it does not mean that they earn more in the first place.  They have more money because generally they do not have children -  children are incredibly expensive.  Also the concept of a non working partner in gay circles is quite rare compared to heterosexual groups.   No children generally means smaller homes, perhaps a city centre flat close to the action rather than a house with a garden for children.

Anyone can enjoy this lifestyle, and more straight men are doing.

These folks are becoming a majority especially in some career areas. Disney for one and they seem to be doing a fine job. Don't guess sexuality should be a barrier to most jobs so long as everyone behaves themselves. One good thing is they most often adopt children and do not reproduce as many heterosexual baby factories do. They are generally peaceful, intelligent, ambitious nature loving critters so I like them.

That's the thing. That's right. But that has little to do with being "gay" because plenty of straight couples (and singles) go on birth control and live a rather wild "adult" lifestyle. Some of them have a tiny little flat or a small "efficiency" apartment for a home -- which they spend very little time in because they are always out and about.

The question was do gay people have more money than straight people.  No children is a common defining feature of gay couples, but much rarer in straight couples.  and yes there are some who choose this, but nothing like the same percentage.  You will notice I said  "Anyone can enjoy this lifestyle, and more straight men are doing."

Also, my personal experience with straight couples living the wild lifestyle is a desperate desire to conceive in late to mid 30s, often involving expensive IVF (there goes the money savings).

Children are not only expensive in money to pay for them, but also in lost promotion opportunities (especially for women) due to their care, maternity leave etc.

Sometimes that desire is genuine on the part of one spouse and feigned on the part of the other, and very often that IVF is nothing but a scam anyways.

There is no reason to think a priori that a woman cannot or should not conceive and bear a child if she has not yet reached menopause, or that a man, even in old age, would not be capable of fathering a child. That "biological clock" myth needs to be busted on its face like the doctors who lie through their teeth to practice such quackery.

A surprisingly large number of lesbian and gay male couples in the U.S. do have children: most of them either by adoption or after divorce from an opposite-sex spouse.

Our culture in the U.S. is not as dysfunctional and paranoid as that of Britain, in that a man over the age of 18 out in public with a child under the age of 18 would automatically be suspected of "child molestation" simply because the child's mother is not present.
