My husband and I wake early on Saturdays and Sundays to watch the current events show, called Up, on MSNBC. The discussions focus on current events and government policies. Viewers understand that shows on MSNBC are editorial shows. They do not try to hide behind the word "News". We also watch Thom Hartmann on Free Speech TV. He starts each segment with a light summary of news worthy events. After the summary he dives into deep topics, taking phone calls while on the air.

We get a lot of our "news" by watching these program because the discussions reveal facts that broadcast news programs exclude. After all, good discussions and/or arguments are supported with facts.

We also look at news from other countries. RT, France 24 Hour, and NHK programming offer different perspectives on world events.

Where do you get your news? Do you watch only one type of news, or news based, programming? Do you sample several news sources?

I sample a number of sources from across the internet. I've found that, if I rely on something exclusively, I get misled. A good thing is to check small local news sources if something in particular is happening in an area. I feel those can be pretty good for getting details that the larger sourcses omit because they don't think they're important.

It's important to understand that all major news outlets, whether you're watching NBC, ABC, or CBS television, or viewing their broadcast online, these companies are owned by very powerful people who are part of the financially elite. That's not to say that some factual information will not filter through. If someone is murdered, it's going to be on the 6'oclock news. If the stock market falls, it's going to be covered on CNBC. However, if any reporter, from any agency, tries to expose MAJOR corruption such as 9/11, or how or why we allow the Federal Reserve to continue to exist, for one, his comment will not be broadcast, and two, he will be quickly out of a job.

Therefore, I don't rely so much on the networks or newspapers for news because it's often tainted and slanted. The biggest problems we have in society today stem from a few very corrupt entities - The Vatican and the Roman Catholic Church, along with the Federal Reserve, Central Banks, and International Bankers. Recessions are created, which cause people to lose their homes, jobs, and livelihood. Some who are not strong enough to survive may turn to crime to try to make ends meet. This does not make his actions right, but the source of his problems started with these illegal enterprises.

Wars are fought for profit and control and it is the media that spins the, "fighting for our freedom", and "defending our borders" CRAP.

The next time you see a commercial, or any politician on television, talking about "defending our borders", look at it this way. For America to say we are "defending our borders" is equivalent to a bully saying, he's defending his home, but then goes to your house and kicks your azz, for no apparent reason. He's asked, "why did you do it?" "I was defending my home." GEESH. And for you Obama-haters out there, don't try to act like this all started with him. America was CORRUPT long before Obama was even born.

These are primary issues in our society that the media does not and will not address. My information comes from keeping close tabs on what's going on, then review historical data about what created the situation we are in today (know your history or repeat it). Then I use logic and reason to determine what's going on, and what I can do to make a positive difference. That's why, with almost every article I write; almost every forum post; every blog and website, I have, and will continue to speak out against these big-azz elephants in the room that the majority chooses to ignore.

I listen to and  watch various tv cable news channels, everyone but FAUX news. I also read the internet for news. I am watching Freed Zekaria, may be misspelling his name, on GPS, televised on CNN, which I find very interesting and informative.

CNN, MSNBC, FOX for entertainment purposes. FOX news is funny. It's always fun to watch and see what crazy thing they'll make an issue of next. I love it when O'Reilly ramps up the war on Christmas nonsense every winter. Hannity is just delusional. CNN I take the most serious. MSNBC is a bit too social media and I think their anchors are too old for it to be viable. Social media isn't for people as old as Matthews and Scarborough.

Absolutely, never from television. There's no depth and not enough time to digest the "news". The best you can do is try to relate to what's presented from an emotional point of view. I used to thing that Fox was the best, but they've withered like the rest.

I usually read the newspaper in the morning and catch glimpses of the tv while at work most of the time. But for certain events i try to pick the best news station on that subject. Like the arab spring, i went with al jazeera that had great coverage 24/7, with the boston tragedy i went with msnbc because i liked how the people there were handling such a sensitive issue .

Mainstream news is a joke, I just wish most people could see it for what it is. It is there to invoke fear and keep us thinking negatively and being programmed by the fear and guilt of what is going on in the world. It's total deception, and there is a lot of fake news stories also - false flags and such where we are told to believe a hideous cover story that doesn't add up. I get my news sources from;

 Drudge Report
 Zen Gardner
 Waking Times
 Conscious Life News
 Natural News
 David Icke
 Washington Post
 Mysterious Universe
 Xeroflux.net
 Blacklisted News
 War Is Crime
 Activist Post

Unfortunately 90% of US TV news is tainted, censored and biased. Sometimes they make me laugh, when the news read on CNN completely contradicts the News on RT, or any Russian channel.  Sometimes it is almost embarrasing. Take the news you are getting on Syria bombing, CNN tries to make us believe that US knew nothing about it, when in fact it was US that sent Zionist bombers into Syria.  I read and listen to news in several languages, some of them are US puppets and are no different than Wolf the Mossad plant

I get my news from a variety of places. At one time, I used to follow CNN religiously. Now, it's just utter garbage. I really can't take Fox News. I watch clips on YouTube for the entertainment and piss off factor. I'm a big fan of Democracy Now with Amy Goodman and Project Censored which tracks the most uncovered important news issues of the year.

Internet seems to break stories faster than the regular news. But I think one has to know the difference on the internet between internet news, and just internet rumor. If you're getting your news from the AP (Associated Press) or CNN online, that's one thing. But some folks are getting their news from Twitter and Facebook believe it or not! Very scary!

What do you guys think about the BBC? I've heard they're too far left for most people. Me? I can't watch it because it's so boring and lackluster the way they report the news.

Stopped watching the BBC some years back as the news was so lefty and politically correct it was laughable.

I don't care much about what tack it takes. I prefer left news as it makes more sense. Not that I am all about the welfare state and giving people stuff for free. But I just don't culturally like or respect American conservatives too much. I'm a New Yorker first and foremost. Their party is all about country music, redneck'ism, and such. I cannot associate myself with a foreign culture just for some political goals. Dems are coastal, I'm coastal, so that's where I stick. If there were more Repubs like Christie, no southern twang and no psychotic moral impulses...I might vote red once in awhile.

We enjoy Amy Goodman, too. I think her programs stand out because they get past the smoke screens and actually feature people involved in the news items covered by Democracy Now!

Most large television corporations restructured their flow charts. News programing and reporting stopped being a separate hierarchies, and were moved into "entertainment" departments. If you have noticed a proliferation of independent news or public service channels like Link TV, Current TV, Al Jazeera English, Free Speech TV, and many others, it is a reaction to news no longer addressing the facts or exploring issues in an attempt to inform and educate the citizenry.

There is no way in all of the known universe you could be more misinformed about American Conservatives. This is the mindset that is borne out of consuming Leftist media. You are a product of your "news" sources. There are a ton more Conservatives around you, everyday, than you think. They just don't fit the propaganda you've been given.

When I was younger, I thought I was a Democrat. I thought it was my "duty" to be a Democrat. And, I thought I was informed. I voted Democrat, because that's what I was "supposed" to do. One day, I started demanding real answers to inconsistencies I began noticing, and that was the beginning of the fog lifting in my mind. The lies of the Left are a terrible conspiracy in this country, especially against minorities. It will take generations for the poisoned ideas to run their course. Let's hope we can survive as a nation until then.

Lately, I have been hearing some really great things about Al Jazeera English. I will have to check them out.

I can't speak or NickJ, but I share the same opinion. It's not born out of some "all consuming leftist media". It's from my personal observations. I do think the crazies are the loudest and get more attention. That's a shame. I do know plenty of fiscally conservatives who are pretty decent.

It is no longer vital if news is left or right, conservative or not. We need humanism. Protection of environment, and most importantly safety of our children and ourselves . I often find some right wingers more human on some subjects than the lefties are.

I usually get my news from a variety of sources also. I do watch TV news (Fox), to see what new stories are being covered, and get a general idea of what is going on. When there is something big happening, then I also start checking the Internet to see what other information is out concerning the situation. I will also pull up a local station because you can often get more real and in-depth coverage from the local news , than from a big station like CNN .

Many times, the alternative news forums, like ATS, will have good information because it has so many people seeing different coverage, and hearing more about what is happening.

Another thing I do when there is a news report that is ongoing, like the bombings, is to catch it on the police scanner for that city, and you can often hear things right as they are happening. Sometimes, not easy to listen to, like when the Feds were torching Dorner alive, and he was trying to give up, and they set it on fire, and you can hear the screams. .... Not good ! I was glad when they reported, one shot' and I knew it was over. I don't think he did everything he was accused of, but even if he did, no one should be burned alive.

But I digress..... So back to the subject.... News. There are a variety of webpages that I read the news on, some more mainstream , some kind of out there, like Sorcha Fael, but I think that even he is right on some things , just not everything. But it usually gives me something to check out.

I don't get my news from any one source, I try to research things a bit more by myself and look for bias in the story. I also try to look at what they are trying to accomplish when they are publishing the article, sometimes they will literally try to change your mind on a popular subject of debate.

Okay. But the majority of conservatives live in the deep south. Places that are like No Mans Land. Slasher Movie style. And then the loudest Republicans are also from there. And when they spout their crazy ideas, everyone hears and reads it. Not saying there aren't conservatives who live on the coasts. Just saying the abnormal southern born ones seem to be the biggest mouthpieces. Perhaps they need to demote them for awhile and give the platform to Christie and Conservatives like him. They just make more sense when they talk.
